I have a winch I would like to install on my 648d john deere grapple however I dont know where to hook the hydraulic lines to the skidder. I am not sure what model the winch is but pictures can be viewed in my gallery. Does your skidder have a place for a driveshaft to turn the winch. It looks like the winch has the hydraulic pump mounted in it so you would need the shaft to turn it. I think on the newer ones they have a line directly from the main pump to a winch control valve mounted in the operators station which in turn would have two or so hoses running to the winch that would control your clutch and brake. Im sure there is away to make it work but the thing that concerns me is the right side quill case is also the resivor for the winch, which also keeps the bearings in a oil bath so to speak. That is how I look at it, but somebody on here with a lot more knowledge then me could help you better. That came off a 440A, 440B, I have a 440D, my employee has a 440C both with 3325 and I know they dont mount thru the bottom. Check your skidder, all the 648Ds Ive ever seen came thru with 3 winches, 3325, 6000 and the 4000 at the very end, most of the factory grapples had a 3325 or 6000, not even in the same league of winch if you compared the 2. Also the winch is mounted from the back side and not underneath. As far as I can see, I need to hook up drives haft and 2 small hydraulic oil lines. I just dont know where on the skidder to hook them (or if this winch will work). Ill look at my book later and give you the Deere numbers for the valve. The pictures you got dont show the lines and stuff very good. Maybe take some better pictures and see if you can find a model number or serial number. Could be off a early 440 that number you took isnt coming up as a housing number in my 440 parts book. So what I am getting is, the lines get hooked to the oil filter Do you have a picture please. I guess if I am going to do it, I may as well do it once do it right.
